A Spark that Lights the Path for our Students
The State of Ohio now allows taxpayers to direct monetary donations to an eligible scholarship-granting organization (SGO). When you give to St. Ursula Academy Foundation’s Pathfinder Fund, you will receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit of as much as $750 annually per individual or $1,500 annually for a married couple filing jointly. Simply stated, your donation to SUA does not cost you a cent. A gift to SUA Foundation's Pathfinder Fund helps us provide educational opportunities to students who might not otherwise have access to SUA. Your contribution will make a real difference in the lives of these students and light the path for their journey at St. Ursula Academy.

What is a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO)?
As defined by the State of Ohio, a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) is a religious or nonprofit organization exempt from federal taxation whose primary intent must be to award academic scholarships to low income-students to attend schools in grades K – 12. The Pathfinder Fund, managed by the St. Ursula Academy Foundation, achieves this criteria.
What is the benefit of an SGO?
The State of Ohio enacted legislation in 2021 to allow a tax credit of $750 per individual or $1,500 for married couples filing jointly for donations made to a certified SGO. The credit is dollar-for-dollar, but it is limited to the lesser amount of 1) $750 per individual or 2) $1,500 for married couples filing jointly; or 3) your total Ohio tax liability.
How can I donate?
You can donate at www.toledosua.org/supportsua/pathfinder-fund or by sending a check made payable to St. Ursula Academy Foundation, 4025 Indian Rd., Toledo, Ohio 43606. Please write “The Pathfinder Fund” in the memo section.
Can I direct my donation to a specific student?
No. As a 501(c)(3) organization, The Pathfinder Fund at St. Ursula Academy Foundation may not accept donations that are designated for a specific student.
My employer offers matching contributions. Will The Pathfinder Fund at St. Ursula Academy Foundation accept a matching contribution from my employer?
Yes! This method of donating is a great way to increase your impact. However, you will not receive a donation letter or tax credit for your employer’s matching amount.
Who is responsible for submitting the contribution information to the State of Ohio?
St. Ursula Academy Foundation will provide a donor contribution acknowledgement letter. Each donor is personally responsible for maintaining the contribution letter as support to claim the tax credit through the State of Ohio.
