Special Events

Tradition runs deep at St. Ursula Academy. Our unique celebrations help form the rich and rewarding experience that our students carry with them for the rest of their lives—and bond them as SUA sisters and friends forever.

Intramurals

This decades-old tradition pits grades against each other in fun and fierce contests, including hallway decorating, dances, talent shows, volleyball tournaments, and other competitive events.

Arrows Listening To Arrows (ALTA)

During this bi-weekly small-group meeting, students and a faculty mentor share stories, trade ideas, and pray together.

Convocation

The entire student body, faculty, and staff gather to recognize birthdays, share sports and extracurricular schedules, and publicize special events—and each gathering culminates in the singing of the Alma Mater.

Retreats

Each year, classes go on themed retreats to enhance their spirituality and sisterhood.

Family Events

Father/Daughter Dance—Our girls enjoy a special evening with their dads or special male family members at this festive and casual event.

Mother/Daughter Senior Luncheon—This special luncheon celebrates our graduating seniors and their mothers or special female family members at a beautiful off-site venue.

Grandparents’ Day—Because grandparents mean so much to our students, we celebrate them each year with a Mass and breakfast.

Mother/Daughter Road Rally—Friendly competition makes this event fun for moms and daughters alike.

Dances

Christmas Dance—Our students recognize this special holiday with a date dance on campus.

Prom—Juniors and seniors enjoy a special off-campus prom and fun-filled “after prom” party in the spring.

Electric Run

We welcome students back to school with a fun run, music, snacks, and outdoor activities the night before classes start.

Outdoor Liturgy

Students, parents, and alumnae share in a fall outdoor liturgy to celebrate returning to school and beautiful autumn weather.

Spirit Week

This fun-filled week includes themed-dress days and special treats, all to reinforce our students’ love of SUA!

Musicals

All-school musicals, which include boys from local schools, are performed at the historic Valentine Theatre in downtown Toledo.

Carnegie Hall

Our select choir performs biennially at world-famous Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Junior Ring Ceremony

Our juniors, during a special Mass, have their class rings or other special pieces of jewelry blessed as they officially become upperclassmen

Day of Caring

The entire SUA community serves at various local organizations, including food banks, day care centers, churches, and other organizations that depend of volunteers; in one day, SUA contributes nearly 2,000 service hours to the Toledo area.

May Crowning

This all-school prayer service is built around honoring Mary, the mother of God; students representing each class become the court for the May Crowing Queen, a special senior who represents the values that Mary modeled.

Baccalaureate Mass

Held at the Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in downtown Toledo, the Mass includes a special farewell message for the graduates and their families.

Graduation

The beautiful Peristyle Theater at the Toledo Museum of Art hosts graduates and their families as they listen to the valedictorian and salutatorian address their class; immediately following the ceremony, graduates gather on the Peristyle steps for a traditional class photo.
