JA Athletics
The JA offers a wide range of sports and teams for middle school students to compete, build confidence, and discover what they’re capable of on the court, on the field, and beyond.
SUA offers multiple levels of competition for our JA Arrows, providing a variety of opportunities for all skill sets and abilities. JA athletes participate in basketball, cheer, crew, cross country, golf, lacrosse, indoor and outdoor track and field, and volleyball.
League Play Options
Students in the JA can participate in sports through the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Athletics, which offers a unique environment for young athletes, combining sports and faith-based values. CYO Athletics is part of the faith-building efforts of the Catholic Church. Student-athletes participating in this program learn the fundamentals of sports and compete against their peers from other parishes and schools within the Diocese of Toledo.
The JA also offers Prep Teams for student-athletes in grades seven and eight. The Prep Teams compete in games, leagues, and tournaments beyond the traditional CYO schedule, exposing athletes to a higher level of competition and the expectations of high school athletics. Athletes interested in the Prep Teams are required to tryout and must demonstrate elevated standards for attendance, effort, teamwork, and conduct.
JA teams also participate in the Sylvania Recreation league, as well as independently scheduled contests.

To participate in JA athletic teams, the following items must be submitted:
- Complete the JA Athletic registration online form
- Physical turned in to the SUA Athletic Department
- Completion of online forms on Final Forms
