Class of 2017 Graduation: Awards and Honors
Commencement ceremonies for the 145th Graduating Class of St. Ursula Academy were held on May 21, 2017.
The Valedictorian Award, given to the student with the highest cumulative grade point average, was awarded to Alexandra Richards with a grade point average of 4.746. The Salutatorian Award, presented to the student with the second highest cumulative grade point average, was awarded to Summer Drees with a grade point average of 4.703.
The Bishop's Cross is given to a senior who has shown outstanding participation in all religious expressions of the school, has maintained an "A" or "B" average in Theology, has exhibited an attitude of cooperation and enthusiastic support for the school's effort to build a caring, honest community and has participated outside the school in religious projects and groups. The 2017 Bishop's Cross was awarded to Quinn Arbaugh.
The St. Angela Award is given to seniors who in an outstanding manner, exemplify the same characteristics and qualities of Angela Merici – a strong belief in the importance of Christian living with attitudes, values, and actions based on charity as well as living a life of service, friendship, advice, care, compassion, and concern for others. The recipients of the St. Angela Award for 2017 were: Lindsey Forche, Lauren Lankard, and Brianna Wenzinger.
The Mary Ann Gugger Award is a spirit service award given to graduates who exemplify Mary Ann's spirit and dedication to St. Ursula Academy. The 2017 Mary Ann Gugger Award was presented to: Grace Fawcett, Nuurah Parsons, and Jenna Stengle.
