ANTONIO ACCEPTS PERMANENT VOLLEYBALL POSITION
St. Ursula Academy (SUA) is pleased to announce that previous Interim Head Volleyball Coach, Sydney Antonio, has accepted a permanent position to lead the Arrows volleyball program. Sydney was chosen as the Interim Head Volleyball Coach for the 2016-2017 school year in January 2016. After a very successful first year of coaching (23-3), it was an easy decision to ask her to return in a permanent position. Coach Antonio came to SUA with a background as a collegiate volleyball player for Miami University, former assistant volleyball coach at SUA, and Associate Club Director of Toledo Volleyball Club. She is also a 2004 graduate of SUA with a great love for her alma mater. Coach Antonio's role as Head Coach is effective immediately.
Antonio expressed her excitement, "I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to continue working with such an amazing staff and such incredible young women as part of the SUA volleyball program. Last year, we created a positive and hard working atmosphere that will be that much better this second year. I know the team and my staff are eager to get into the gym to start working toward an even more successful season. I am looking forward to this next season!"
"We are pleased that Sydney has agreed to this role at St. Ursula. Her passion for volleyball and coaching young women was evident during this past year. We are excited about the future of St. Ursula Volleyball," said SUA Athletic Director, Mike Donnelly.
The athletic accomplishments for the St. Ursula Academy volleyball program over the past six years include: 6 League Titles, 6 Sectional Titles, 6 District Titles, 5 Regional Titles, State Champions in 2010, and State Runner-Up in 2011 and 2013.
Please join us in congratulating Coach Antonio.
