Faith-Based Events
At SUA, we offer a variety of faith-based events throughout the year to help students grow in faith and service to others.
Service Fair
Held annually by the Serviam Club, the Service Fair includes about 30 local nonprofits that visit SUA to share their mission and volunteer opportunities with students. It’s held in November during lunch and seminar.
Lenten Food Drive
Each year during Lent, the Serviam Club organizes a food drive to collect food and other supplies for local food pantries that serve underserved populations in Toledo.
Junior Ring Ceremony
This ceremony is a special Mass at Gesu Catholic Church when juniors have their class rings or other special pieces of jewelry blessed as they officially become upperclassmen.
Giving Tree
Advent
Each year during Advent, we put up a tree in the Angela Lobby with tags supporting local nonprofits, including the Labre Program. Students can tag home tags, purchase and wrap the requested items, and return to school. The Serviam Club delivers to the nonprofits before Christmas.
Penance Services
Advent and Lent
SUA holds penance services during the preparation seasons of Advent and Lent. Students, faculty, and staff gather to pray for forgiveness and prepare for individual, private confessions.
Living Stations of the Cross
A powerful tradition, this is a live-action portrayal of the Passion of Christ. The community gathers for synchronized prayer and time to reflect on Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice.
Spring Break Mission Trip
A trip for juniors and seniors to step away from everyday routines and spend a week serving others, reflecting on faith, and growing personally and spiritually. The trip is at a different location each year.
Baccalaureate Mass
Held at our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in downtown, Toledo, the Mass includes a special farewell message for graduates and their families.
May Crowning
This all-school ceremony honors the Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth and is traditionally celebrated during the month of May. Students in grades eight to 12 are nominated and chosen to serve on the May Crowning Court. One special senior who represents the values Mary modeled is chosen to crown Mary during the ceremony. The crowning of Mary's statue symbolizes her beauty, virtues, and role as our spiritual mother.
