Arrows Making an Impact: Lindsey (Tobias) Camargo

Lindsey (Tobias) Camargo '99 is one of many alumnae who did not begin her high school career at SUA. She joined the Arrows her junior year, after attending a school in Michigan. Although the transition to a new school in a higher grade was tough, she made some nice friends. Looking back, Lindsey understands that she was a very independent teenager who worked at a young age and had an interest in traveling abroad. Her cultural interest was enhanced by her family hosting exchange students. One of those exchange students would eventually have a major impact on her life.

Lindsey majored in Spanish and Business Administration in college. She spent her summers in Brazil visiting her boyfriend (one of her family's former exchange students), who later became her husband. Lindsey is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. After college, she worked at a local law firm as a senior paralegal and offered a unique resource to her clients as a Spanish translator. She intended to obtain her law degree, but her plans changed after attending a "do-it-yourself" workshop at Board & Brush Creative Studio. She decided immediately that she would open her own franchise in Sylvania. It’s been a fun journey for her family, and, while the pandemic has been difficult for all small businesses, she truly appreciated the community's support for her company. During the six weeks she had to shut down in-person operations, Lindsey offered to-go kits, including arts and crafts boxes, movie nights boxes, s’mores boxes, and others.

From her experience at SUA, Lindsey learned that one must give something a chance to make it work. Lindsey knows that she can shine her light to make others' journeys brighter.
