Inside SUA: Tori Montry

Tori Montry
School Counselor

How long have you been a part of the SUA community?
This is my fourth year.

What is your position/affiliation to SUA?
I am a high school counselor.

What are you most proud of being affiliated with SUA?
I am proud to be a part of an organization that empowers young women. We have so many great opportunities at SUA that few young women have. It's always rewarding to see our students take advantage of them and grow from these experiences. From my perspective as a counselor, it's gratifying to cheer students on from their freshman year to graduation and beyond!

What SUA Core Value is most meaningful to you, and why?
Openness to Change - I consider myself a lifelong learner, so it's important to remind ourselves that there is always room for development. High school is a time of finding out where you "fit in," so embracing this idea with my students is the foundation of what I do as a counselor.

How she has impacted students:
“Mrs. Montry exemplifies what it means to be a caring and dedicated educator, and her positive impact on my life and the lives of so many others is immeasurable. She always has her student’s best interests at heart and advocates for them, even when they feel like nobody else will. Mrs. Montry truly cares about her students, and I am grateful for everything she has done to make my time at SUA meaningful and rewarding.”
