Inside SUA: Rebecca Engel

Rebecca Engel
Math Faculty

How long have you been a part of the SUA community?
I have been here since the fall of 2016.

What is your position/affiliation to SUA?
I am a math teacher, primarily teaching high school courses, but occasionally teaching a section of Pre-Algebra. I have also been the Math Department Chair for almost two years, since the summer of 2021.

What are you most proud of being affiliated with SUA?
I am proud of being part of a faith community that is striving to maintain a high level of academic rigor (especially in the math department) while also caring for the individual and working to help each student develop a strong moral character.

What SUA Core Value is most meaningful to you, and why?
The core value that is most meaningful to me is Community. Feeling that I am part of a close-knit community that supports each other and works together to be the best that we can be is what makes me love coming to work.

How she has impacted students:
“Mrs. Engel helps develop her students into overachievers. In the classroom, we remain on task while being able to express ourselves. Productivity in the classroom is always high, and whenever I leave class, I never fail to feel as if I accomplished something. Not only does her organization help ease the stress that math may cause, but it also allows us to stay focused on  our work, and she sets a great example. She is always first to offer help and makes her students feel comfortable when asking questions!”
