Inside SUA: Jennifer Greco, Ph.D.

Jennifer Greco, Ph.D.
Science Faculty, STEM Coodinator

How long have you been a part of the SUA community?
Since August 2023

What is your position/affiliation to SUA?
I am a member of the science faculty and the coordinator for the high school Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) program.

What are you most proud of being affiliated with SUA?
I am proud to be part of a place that is dedicated to developing the whole person. The students here can be involved in such a broad range of activities and classes, and I truly see the difference this makes for them as people. It has been a privilege for me to restart the STEM program here. This group of students came together for the first time last year and has truly created a special community together—one that enjoys building things, taking on new projects, and helping each other learn new skills. It is truly a group dedicated to tackling new challenges, learning new skills, and bringing out the best in each other. I watch with great joy as the girls jump into every new challenge and competition, and I love that SUA is the kind of place that will support a club like STEM.

What SUA Core Value is most meaningful to you, and why?
Community. SUA is a wonderful community of people truly dedicated to bringing out the best in each other. The teachers have a true passion for what they do and are willing to go above and beyond for the students. They also do this for each other. It was a true joy being a new teacher at SUA and having this great community around me to offer help and support when I needed it. The students here also have a true passion for what they do. It is wonderful to see my STEM Club students going all in on every project, from building robots to growing plants. They also have a passion for helping others, and they have started doing a yearly charity fundraiser.

How she has impacted students:
“Dr. Greco has the three traits I want to have when I grow up: kindness, intelligence, and spirituality. She has helped students through high-stress experiences and remained patient with faults. She has a drive for knowledge and a passion for teaching. Finally, she is close to God and serves her church. She is, simply put, really cool.”
