Inside SUA: Chrissy Rode

Chrissy Rode
English Faculty

How long have you been a part of the SUA community?
33 years

What is your position/affiliation to SUA?
I am the chair of the English Department, and I teach British Literature and AP Literature and Composition. I have been in charge of many clubs over the decades, including Student Council, National Honor Society, and Mock Trial.

What are you most proud of being affiliated with SUA?
I am most proud of the growing legacy St. Ursula is creating in Northwest Ohio. Our alumnae hold leadership positions throughout the country, and I am honored to have played some small part in that. I knew them when....

What SUA Core Value is most meaningful to you, and why?
Ursuline Spirituality is most important to me. I grew up going to St. Gerard parish in Lima, and we had Ursuline sisters on campus. Their progressive charism had a huge positive impact on my formative years.

How she has impacted students:
“Mrs. Rode is a true treasure and gift to all of us at SUA. She not only taught me invaluable lessons when I was a student here, but she continues to guide and support me as a friend, mentor, and coworker. She is an angel to me and a true blessing in my life. We are all better for the gift of knowing Chrissy Rode.”

- Katrina Marougi ’00, SUA Theology Teacher
