Arrows Making an Impact: Sydney Kanjuparamban-Crawford ’12

Sydney Kanjuparamban-Crawford ’12 decided to attend SUA after her visit during Visitation Week. She says the Pep Rally sealed the deal for her to join the Freshman class. Almost immediately, she became a member of the rowing team which lasted all four years. The team advanced to compete in the Scholastic Rowing Association National Championships each of those four years, which are memories that Sydney has not forgotten. Sydney forged lasting friendships that continue to be a significant part of her life." Some of my best friends today are the ones I made during my Freshman year and on crew," she recalls fondly.

After graduation, Sydney was admitted to Boston College, where she studied Biology on a pre-med track and minored in Spanish. Initially drawn to medicine, Sydney began her career working for a healthcare database. However, she soon realized her true passion was in addressing healthcare issues through law. This realization led her to pursue a law degree, where she found her calling in pharmacy and drug law, working in defense for enforcement claims. Sydney plays a crucial role in the area of regulation that ensures public safety in the pharmaceutical industry.

Sydney's hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. Recently, she was honored with the Young Emerging Lawyer in Healthcare Award by the American Bar Association, a prestigious recognition given to only five attorneys each year who have been practicing for five years or less. This award is a testament to her commitment to excellence and her impactful work in the legal field.

Despite her demanding career, Sydney is a newlywed maintaining a balanced life. She taught Spinning for eight years, and has even found time to garden—a hobby she shares with a few fellow Toledoans she knew from her high school days, who now also live in Boston.

For current SUA students, Sydney has some thoughtful advice: "Take advantage of all that SUA has to offer. The friendships you form, especially with your sports team, can make your experience truly special." Her journey from St. Ursula Academy to becoming an award-winning attorney exemplifies the power of following your passions and staying true to your values.
