Kaleena Siers ’21 attended St. Benedict Catholic School before joining her sister, Emma ’20, at SUA. Her mom, Malinda Siers, was also a member of SUA’s faculty at the time. Kaleena made her own path by actively participating in Labre and Classic Movie Club, demonstrating her willingness to connect with her peers. Outside of school, Kaleena tutored and babysat. She was a member of the National Honor Society and received Manga Cum Laude recognition at commencements. Graduating from SUA marked the beginning of a journey filled with an unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Reflecting on her fondest memories at SUA, Kaleena recalls Intramurals week as a time when she bonded with classmates. Her enthusiasm for decorating hallways showcased her creativity and teamwork skills, and she loved working with her classmates toward a common goal.
Post-graduation, Kaleena embarked on a new chapter at Cleveland State University, where she is pursuing a degree in social work. Her path to achieving a bachelor’s degree by August 2024 and a master’s degree by spring 2025 speaks volumes about her determination and commitment to education and personal growth.
Kaleena's community engagement extends beyond academics. She is wrapping up a role at a summer camp that caters to children in the Cleveland area. Serving as a positive role model, she uplifts and empowers these young lives, fostering a sense of purpose and hope.
Kaleena's involvement at Cleveland State’s Office of Disability Services showcases her empathy and willingness to contribute. By taking diligent notes for students unable to do so themselves, she embodies the spirit of inclusivity and support, making education accessible to all.
Through her journey, Kaleena imparts wisdom to her younger self, emphasizing that every experience, regardless of the outcome, contributes to personal growth. She believes that, although life and classes may be difficult, the peaks and valleys do not reflect one’s worth. She credits SUA's college preparation emphasis as the foundation for her ongoing academic success.
Kaleena’s work will soon be published alongside one of her professors. As part of an assignment, she was required to discuss intersectionality, its meaning, and her own definition of it. Her response reflects her critical thinking and insightful perspective.
Kaleena's journey of education, community engagement, and steadfast commitment to making an encouraging impact is a testament to the positive influence one individual can have on her community and beyond.
