Arrows Making an Impact: Constance Carlisle ’95

"Both my mother (Deborah Carter Carlisle) and aunt (Shari Carter Mayer ’75) attended SUA," Connie proudly shared. Before attending SUA, Connie was a student at Trinity Lutheran.

Connie was focused on academics, but she also dove into a variety of extracurricular activities. She was a part of the Track and Swim teams, served as a St. Francis de Sales cheerleader, was a member of the Afro Club, lent her voice to the Concert Choir, and acted in school plays. "I have so many fond memories, but I would say Concert Choir with Mr. Rowley was special," she said.

After her graduation, Connie continued her education at Tennessee State University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. She also received an MBA from Ohio University.

Today, Connie is the owner of a mortgage and real estate company in southern California. She specializes in working with military service members and families of veterans.

She said her SUA experience prepared her for her current life because it reinforced leadership and the ability to dream big. "SUA provided me with every opportunity to try, be, develop, and create,” she said. "SUA’s focus on leadership encouraged me to grow, take charge, and be accountable for myself while contributing to the bigger community. I learned that I had a voice to not only speak up for myself, but also to talk to those around me," Connie said. These lessons and attributes have been instrumental in her business and community involvement.

Connie continues to believe in the value of an SUA education. "There is no other place like SUA. Learning the power of sisterhood and self-reliance is an invaluable tool that will serve you well in life. SUA teaches you how to compete with compassion, grace, and love. When in doubt, you have your faith to see you through," she said, highlighting the unique blend of values and education at SUA. She added, "In addition to SUA’s high standards and expectations, you will leave SUA with a unique determination to pursue your dreams and purpose to the fullest."

Connie acknowledges the impact that SUA had on her life. "I am so grateful for SUA. The school provided a safe and encouraging environment to be creative, explore, and develop leadership skills. I graduated from SUA with the confidence to believe that I could do anything I put my heart and mind to by way of faith and determination."
