Caitlin’s journey began at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH), where she attended from first through fifth grade. She then moved on to Grove Patterson Academy (GPA) for middle school. When it came time to choose a high school, Caitlin knew St. Ursula Academy (SUA) was the right place for her.
“I loved the welcoming and positive community,” she said. “Everyone was so kind whenever I visited for open house or shadow days. It really felt like home.”
Caitlin was also drawn to SUA because of its strong swim program. She joined the varsity swim team as a freshman and stayed on all four years. In addition to swimming, she was part of Labre and worked on the yearbook staff.
After graduating from SUA, Caitlin continued both her education and swim career at the University of Toledo. She majored in Marketing, minored in Management, and earned a Certificate in Graphic Design. While at UT, she was a leader on campus, joining programs like Women in Business Leadership and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She even completed internships with the Toledo Athletic Department and Marathon Petroleum Corporation.
One of Caitlin’s proudest achievements was her Honors Capstone project, where she created a marketing plan for the UT Women’s Swim & Dive team. Her coach was impressed by her work, and Caitlin hopes the ideas will help promote the team more in the future.
When it comes to facing challenges, Caitlin believes in looking at things from different angles. “What worked before might not work now,” she said. “I like to get advice from others and make a plan that fits the situation.”
Her hard work didn’t go unnoticed. Caitlin was named a 2025 Student Pacemaker of the Year for Marketing at UT—an award given to students who show strong leadership, service, and academic success. She also reached personal bests in her swimming events, ending her career on a high note with her fastest time ever in the 100 freestyle.
At SUA, Caitlin was inspired by Coach Dave Eisenstein, who pushed her to chase her goals, and teacher Christina Rode, who opened her eyes to new ideas and encouraged thoughtful discussions.
Some of Caitlin’s favorite memories from SUA include swimming relays with her teammates, winning Districts, and the fun and friendly spirit of Intramurals. She also enjoyed her English classes, especially when the class got to dive into classic books and share their thoughts.
Today, Caitlin is proud of how much she has grown since high school. “I used to be shy,” she said, “but I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone a lot. Now I’m much more confident.”
In her free time, Caitlin loves reading, building Lego sets, and watching movies. She hopes that sharing her story will encourage others to stay open to new experiences and believe in their ability to grow and succeed.
