What Makes Us Undeniably Ursula?

St. Ursula Academy embraces joyful learning in an empowering environment as we prepare each young woman for college and for life.

At SUA, each students follows a customized learning path that encourages her to embrace her possibilities, deepen her faith, explore new directions, develop as a leader—and to flourish through every experience.

That’s growth. That’s sisterhood. That’s Undeniably Ursula.

It’s the “HOW” we do it that makes all the difference.

Our undeniably unique academic experience includes the following:

All-Girls Atmosphere

SUA’s all-girls environment is a core strength, creating a positive, supportive space where students are encouraged to lead, participate, and grow. Students step out of their comfort zones by exploring new activities and courses, engaging in class, joining sports teams, and starting clubs. This environment helps build confidence and independence, setting them up for success in school and beyond.

4x4 Collegiate Block Schedule

The 4x4 collegiate block schedule is designed to deepen learning and create an engaging and meaningful school day.

Students take four 80-minute classes per day, giving them time to focus on fewer subjects at a time, build strong connections with their teachers, and balance their academics with extracurriculars.

Advanced Placement Program

SUA’s Advanced Placement (AP) program offers 20 courses across a range of subjects, giving students the opportunity to pursue advanced coursework in areas that interest them. These classes allow students to engage more deeply in their learning, prepare for college-level coursework, and potentially earn college credit at more than 3,000 universities, including all public colleges in Ohio.

Spirit of St. Angela Merici

Founded in the Ursuline tradition and rooted in the Catholic faith, SUA’s motto, “For the Glory of God Alone,” guides all we do. Through theology classes, service projects, Catholic teachings, and retreats, our Arrows learn about and live out the teachings of our foundress. St. Angela’s legacy continues to shape the values and daily experiences at SUA.

College Quest

To support students and families with the college search process, SUA offers College Quest, a unique “roadmap” designed to guide students through the many factors involved in selecting the right college. College Quest exploration sessions help students move toward their college goals each year. Sessions begin during freshmen year and include both students and families. College Quest is one reason that the Class of 2026 secured more than $45 million in college scholarships.

Leadership

SUA is the first school in the nation to offer a four-year leadership course taught during the school day. With each year building on the last, The Leadership Program prepares students to lead themselves, lead others, and lead meaningful change.

Students enhance their skills, expand beyond their comfort zones, and develop the tools to become lifelong leaders.

Caring Community

SUA faculty and staff consistently go above and beyond, modeling the Ursuline Core Value of Care of the Individual every day. Each student is known, supported, and valued as an individual. Faculty and staff, often in partnership with the counseling team, support students in navigating academic, social, and personal growth throughout their middle school and high school experience. The SUA community builds strong connections to support students every day. This commitment to care and community is a hallmark of St. Ursula Academy’s 170-year legacy.
