SUA Dance Team Wins Two State Competitions, Extends Win Streak
St. Ursula Academy

Toledo, OH—St. Ursula Academy (SUA) is proud to announce that its Dance Team placed first in the jazz and pom categories at the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) state tournament in Dublin, Ohio, on March 2. The team also earned second-place honors in the hip-hop category.

The first-place wins in jazz and pom mark the sixth consecutive year that the SUA Dance Team has taken the top berth in these categories. The team also placed second in hip-hop last year. These wins bring 15 state titles in the last six years to the school.

Varsity Dance Team head coach Morgan Melchert said, “I am so incredibly proud of this team year after year. These young women are not only talented, but they are also consistent, reliable, and driven. They push themselves to be their best each season, and it shows with maintaining state titles for six years in a row in jazz and pom.” The Dance Team competes in all three categories at the state competition, which means dancers must learn, perfect, and perform three separate dances.

Members of the team include seniors Kylie Ceglio, Rae Glover, and Tori Hicks; juniors Grace Cubberly, Kelly Garrison, Kenedie Morr, and Jessie O'Loughlin; sophomores Lanie Herl, Molly Kalucki, Serena O'Loughlin, and Kate Polizzi; and freshmen Kailyn Blakeman and Lauren Wainz.
