St. Ursula Academy Students Participate in 2025 LLS Fundraiser
St. Ursula Academy

Thirteen St. Ursula Academy students participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. This initiative empowers high school students to lead philanthropic efforts, raising money for blood cancer research and patient support. This year, SUA had students on three teams, all dedicated to making an impact for LLS.

According to LLS, this annual campaign is "a philanthropic leadership development program through which highly motivated, high-school leaders embark on a journey of professional growth, fostering professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management" as they raise funds for LLS, "the world's largest non-profit health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services."

Team “Caddies Against Cancer” includes juniors Harper, Jaylee, Annika, and other students from Central Catholic High School, St. Francis de Sales School, St. John's Jesuit High School, Ottawa Hills High School, and Evergreen High School. Most team members are caddies for the Inverness Club in Toledo, hence their group name. They recently hosted a Charity Gala at the Pinnacle in Maumee. The event attracted over 100 attendees and raised over $8,500 for the Leukemia Society!

The “LLS Warriors,” comprised of sophomores Marybelle, Kate, Audrey, Hayden, London, Taytum, Hailey, and Kami, worked hard to raise money for LLS. They are joined by students from St. Francis de Sales School, Notre Dame Academy, and St. John's Jesuit High School. They ultimately placed fourth and were a part of the "50k Club" for teams that raised over $50,000.

Finally, team “Johnnie’s for a Cure,” featuring freshman Kate and junior Megan, made a difference with their unique fundraising approach. Along with other team members from St. John’s Jesuit High School and Ottawa Hills High School, they have conducted multiple fundraisers since the campaign's kickoff on January 30. Ultimately, they finished third out of all the teams, which is a huge accomplishment!

LLS awards "Student Visionaries of the Year" accolades to the teams that raise the most funds in their community during the competition. The grand finale celebration was held last Saturday, March 22, 2025. We are so proud of all three teams for their fantastic work!
