St. Angela Reflection - March 2021
Sister Donna Frey, OSU

"At all times, however, act on good advice and after serious thought."
Third Counsel: Verse 15

During the season of Lent we often consider ways to change our heart more toward Jesus and his journey to the cross. We know that the crucifixion must occur for Jesus to fulfill the scriptures by rising from the dead on the third day— Resurrection and Salvation just for us. A promise kept.

What we choose to do during Lent along with days of fasting and time for prayer are actions that better the hearts and lives of others. We can choose to give up something or choose to give. In times of making choices we always want to act on good advice and with serious consideration.

St. Angela chose strict fasting from food for these days, hours of prayer and hours of giving her time and being present to others in need. She followed her heart that was focused on her love for God and God’s people.

We, too, are asked to focus on God and reach out to those in need while keeping a sense of balance, keeping up with our daily responsibilities and using our good judgment as to what ways we choose to allow Lent to truly enter our hearts.

What is God inviting you to during these days in preparation for the Resurrection and new life of hope and peace?
