Mary (Conlisk) Werner ’74
President
Mary Werner is the fifth president of St. Ursula Academy. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati and is a Certified Public Accountant (non-active). She received her master’s degree in Organization Development from Bowling Green State University. Previously, Mary was president of Werner Coaching & Consulting, Inc., a professional services firm that provided a range of executive coaching to leaders and organizations, as well as leadership consulting services to a wide variety of companies. She also spent 30 years as a practicing CPA, including 10 years as a partner in a regional CPA and management consulting firm.
Mary has chaired and been involved in numerous community initiatives, including the Toledo Community Foundation, Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund, and the Bishop’s Education Council of the Diocese of Toledo. Before returning to SUA as president, Mary served on and chaired her alma mater’s Board of Trustees. Mary earned a certificate in Coaching from the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara and holds a Professional Certified Coach credential from the International Coach Federation.
In 2022, Mary earned the prestigious 2022 YWCA Milestone Award in the Education category.
Mary and her husband of 45 years, Marty, are proud parents of three accomplished daughters and four grandchildren.
Elizabeth Huebner
Interim Principal
Liz Huebner earned a Bachelor of Education in Business and School/Public Health from the University of Toledo. Before joining SUA, Liz held positions are various public health agencies; she was also a science and health teacher at St. Joan of Arc School. She came to St. Ursula in 1997 as a health teacher and Assistant Dean, then became Dean of Students. She has furthered her education through coursework in a master’s degree program in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.
Liz has three daughters, two of whom are SUA alumnae.
Jennifer (Robertson) Guzman ’95
Director of the Junior Academy
Jen Guzman has been committed to Catholic education within the Diocese of Toledo for 24 years. Prior to returning to her alma mater, she taught third grade and served as principal at St. Joan of Arc school. Jen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, both from Lourdes University. She serves on the Ursuline Education Network (UEN) national board, fostering connections with other Ursuline schools across the country. Jen is devoted to SUA’s 170-year legacy of empowering young women through Catholic faith development, academic excellence, and beloved traditions.
Jen and her husband, Greg, are the parents of a 2015 SUA alumna and a son who attends the University of Dayton.
Kim Shockey
Director of Academics
Kim has been involved in education for more than 20 years. Prior to moving to Toledo and joining the faculty at SUA in 2013, she worked in medical research, textbook development, assessment, and evaluation; she also taught in higher education. Kim holds a master’s degree in Statistics from Montana State University. While she has lived in many places, she has called Toledo home for more than a decade. Kim taught mathematics at SUA for many years prior to her leadership role. She believes the academics and community offered at SUA are truly special. As the Director of Academics, she enjoys working with students as they explore their interests and pursue their academic journey.
Rita Hayes
Director of Admissions and Marketing
An Akron, Ohio, native, Rita graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and an emphasis in public relations. For more than 17 years, Rita has worked in secondary Catholic education in Toledo, with positions held in admissions, advancement, and marketing. Upon visiting SUA for the first time, Rita felt a sense of coming home. With a passion for the premier educational experience that St. Ursula Academy provides the young women of northwest Ohio, she feels it is a privilege to share all that SUA offers with prospective families. Rita enjoys getting to know SUA’s newest Arrows through the admissions process and showing the young women of SUA that their lives can be rich in faith, family, and future career. Rita has two daughters—one in the Class of 2026 and one in the Class of 2028!
Lindsay (Launder) Jordan ’02
Director of Advancement
Lindsay Jordan earned a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toledo in 2006. While studying at UT, she worked for six years at St. Vincent Hospital, working with families from Toledo by registering and admitting patients. After graduating from college, Lindsay worked in education for nine years, serving as both a middle school teacher and dean. She then transitioned to becoming the Children’s Pastor of Calvary Church, where she had a wide range of responsibilities and built strong relationships with families in the community. As the Director of Advancement at SUA, she joins together her past professional experiences to lead and execute the overall fundraising and constituent engagement strategies to provide for the current and future needs of the school. She is passionate about the mission of SUA and realizes, as a graduate, that her time at SUA laid a strong foundation for who she is today.
Lindsay has four children, including two daughters–one in the Class of 2028 and one in the Class of 2029.
Michael Donnelly
Athletic Director
Michael Donnelly has been committed to Catholic education within the Diocese of Toledo for 16 years and in the field of education for 22 years. He has been the Director of Athletics for 11 years at St. Ursula Academy. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry with a minor in Education, both from Wittenberg University.
Michael and his wife, Tracy, are the parents of a 2023 SUA graduate and a current SUA student.
Liz Pelz
Director of Campus Ministry
Liz Pelz has had a passion for serving the youth of the Diocese of Toledo for the past 13 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry and Recreation from Bluffton University. She is excited to walk alongside the young women of SUA as they grow in their faith, realizing and nurturing the person God created them to be. Liz and her husband, Dale, are the proud aunt and uncle of two nieces and three nephews and can often be found cheering them on at various events!
Carolyn Anderson
Director of Curriculum and Professional Development
Carolyn is a Chicago-area native who brings 18 years of classroom teaching experience from three states–Illinois, Tennessee, and Ohio–in both public and private schools. Most recently, Carolyn spent six years teaching English, speech, and debate at Central Catholic High School. With a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and English from DePaul University, as well as a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lourdes University, she is committed to fostering a positive learning environment for both students and faculty/staff.
Carolyn is a proud parent to two children and two Labrador Retrievers.
Holly (Shiple) Martens ’05
Director of Finance
Holly Martens is a Toledo native who spent many years being actively involved in her church and school communities. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Toledo. Before becoming SUA's Director of Finance, Holly worked for 11 years in public accounting, where she helped clients successfully complete their tax returns and financials. Holly has a strong passion for SUA; in fact, her love for accounting started in Mrs. Antonio’s accounting class!
Holly is the proud mom to three daughters, one current and two future Arrows!
Mark Miller
Director of Technology
Mark Miller received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting, from Bowling Green State University and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Toledo. After 20 years in business, Mark joined the St. Ursula Academy technology team in 2014. Mark and his wife, Barb, have one son, a graduate of The Ohio State University.
