Leadership Team

Mary (Conlisk)
Werner ’74, President

Mary Werner is the fifth president of St. Ursula Academy. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati and is a Certified Public Accountant (non-active). She received her master’s degree in Organization Development from Bowling Green State University. Previously, Mary was president of Werner Coaching & Consulting, Inc., a professional services firm providing a range of executive coaching to leaders and organizations and leadership consulting services to a wide variety of companies. She also spent 30 years as a practicing CPA, including ten years as a partner in a regional Certified Public Accounting and management consulting firm.

 

Mary has chaired and been involved in numerous community initiatives, including the Toledo Community Foundation and the Bishop’s Education Council of the Diocese of Toledo. She also chaired St. Ursula Academy’s Board of Trustees. Mary is certified in Coaching from the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara and holds a Professional Certified Coach credential from the International Coach Federation.

 

Mary and her husband, Marty, have three grown daughters, all SUA graduates, and three grandchildren.

Nichole (Operacz)
Flores ’89, Principal

Nichole Flores has been a principal for 11 years, serving the last six years at St. Ursula Academy. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from John Carroll University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Bowling Green State University, she has been committed to Catholic education and working in the Diocese of Toledo for the past 20 years. Nichole is currently an advisory board member on the Bishop’s Education Council of the Diocese of Toledo and the Ursuline Education Network, which promotes the preservation and development of the Ursuline charism and fosters educational excellence, innovation, and global connectedness.

 

Nichole and her husband, John, are parents to a 2015 SUA alumna and a member of the Class of 2021.

Elizabeth Huebner, 
Assistant Principal

Liz Huebner earned a Bachelor of Education in Business and School/Public Health from the University of Toledo. Before joining SUA, Liz held positions are various public health agencies; she was also a science and health teacher at St. Joan of Arc School. She came to St. Ursula in 1997 as a health teacher and Assistant Dean, then became Dean of Students. She has furthered her education through coursework in a master’s degree program in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton. As part of her position as assistant principal, Liz oversees Student Council, the Merici Society, safety and security of our campus, and disciplinary issues. 

 

Liz has three daughters, two of whom are SUA alumnae.

Jennifer (Robertson) Guzman ’95, Director of the Junior Academy Program

Jennifer Guzman has been committed to Catholic education within the Diocese of Toledo for 18 years, serving the last five years as a school principal. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, both from Lourdes University.  She is devoted to St. Ursula’s 165-year legacy of empowering young women through Catholic faith development, academic excellence, and revered traditions.

Jennifer and her husband, Greg, are the parents of a 2015 SUA alumna and a son who attends St. Francis de Sales High School.

Rita Hayes, 
Director of Admissions and Marketing

An Akron, Ohio, native, Rita graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and an emphasis in public relations. For more than 10 years, Rita has worked in secondary Catholic education in Toledo, with positions held in admissions, advancement, and marketing. Upon visiting SUA for the first time, Rita felt a sense of coming home. With a passion for the premier educational experience that St. Ursula Academy provides the young women of northwest Ohio, she feels it is a privilege to share all that SUA offers with prospective families. Rita enjoys getting to know SUA’s newest Arrows through the admissions process and showing the young women of SUA that their lives can be rich in faith, family, and future career. Rita has two daughters—one in the Class of 2026 and a future Arrow (Class of 2028)!

Holly (Shiple) Martens 05, Director of Finance

Holly Martens is a Toledo native who spent many years being actively involved in her church and school communities. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Toledo. Before becoming SUA's Director of Finance, Holly worked for 11 years in public accounting, where she helped clients successfully complete their tax returns and financials.  Holly has a strong passion for SUA; in fact, her love for accounting started in Mrs. Antonio’s accounting class!  She looks forward to sharing this home with her three future Arrows in the years to come. 

Beth Porter, 
Director of Academics

Beth Porter has a bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo in Pharmacology and Toxicology, with a minor in Chemistry, as well as a master's degree in Education from UT, with a license to teach Integrated Science. Before joining the administrative team, she taught Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, and AP Chemistry at SUA. Beth and her husband have two children: one son and one future Arrow!

Mark Miller, 
Director of Technology

Mark Miller received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting, from Bowling Green State University and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Toledo. After 20 years in business, Mark joined the St. Ursula Academy technology team in 2014. In addition to leading the technology department, he is the Technology Academic Department Chair. Mark and his wife, Barb, have one son; he attends The Ohio State University.

Malinda Siers, 
Director of Faculty and Curriculum Development

Malinda Siers has carried out her educational vocation at St. Ursula Academy since 2001. She earned a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Math Education from the University of Toledo and will graduate in December 2019 with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lourdes University. Malinda currently serves the SUA community as the Director of the Junior Academy Program and as the Director of Faculty and Curriculum Development. She previously served as both a teacher and math department chair. Malinda is dedicated to SUA’s exceptional educational program, in which students are celebrated for their differences and are continually challenged to think critically and reflect on their learning.

Josh Yecke, Director of Philanthropy

Josh Yecke has worked in advancement offices at Vanderbilt University, Kettering University, and Hillel at the University of Michigan. Prior to his career in advancement, he was a high school theology teacher, retreat director, and basketball and track coach. He has a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from DePaul University and a master’s degree in Higher Education from the University of Michigan. Josh’s wife, Sarah (Muller) Yecke '08, is an alumna of St. Ursula Academy. Josh and Sarah have two children.

Sr. Donna Frey, 
Director of Mission Effectiveness

Sister Donna Frey, an Ursuline Sister for 50 years, has a master’s degree in Education from the University of Toledo. In addition to her experience as a junior high teacher, elementary school principal, and past Campus Minister at St. Ursula Academy, she has served several terms on the Ursuline Community leadership team—once as president of her Community—and is currently on Leadership. Since 2010, she has been involved in Ursuline and Catholic Identity at St. Ursula Academy, working with faculty, staff, and students to share the spirit and charism of St. Angela Merici, foundress of the Ursuline Sisters.
