The student body, faculty, staff and parents of St. Ursula Academy rallied to support the Race for the Cure by sponsoring the local Volley for the Cure event at SUA which raised approximately $3,000.  The proceeds from the sale of pink t-shirts, a 50/50 raffle and a decorated pink Christmas tree raffle will be given to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Foundation.

A regular season volleyball match between St. Ursula Academy and Notre Dame Academy on Monday, September 24, 2007 held at the packed field house of St. Ursula turned into a sea of pink with spectators and players sporting the pink t-shirts.  A special prayer remembering both survivors and those who have fought a valiant fight against breast cancer preceded the volleyball matches.

St. Ursula Athletic Director, Steve Parrill and Varsity Volleyball Coach, John Buck cooperated with the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association which organized the Volley for the Cure campaign state-wide.

About 150 St. Ursula Arrow athletes and coaches are participating in the Race for the Cure run/walk on Sunday, September 30th in downtown Toledo.

St. Ursula has been involved in raising money for breast cancer research for five years through the selling of t-shirts.  To date, St. Ursula has raised approximately $12,000 for breast cancer research.
