Pre-Professional Programs

St. Ursula Academy cares about each student and provides her with the resources she needs to set and achieve her academic goals. Our pre-professional programs provide opportunities for students to participate in:

Women in Health Science Professions

St. Ursula Academy partners with The University of Toledo College of Medicine to offer Women in Health Science Professions. This monthly program is designed to expose a select group of students to the wide range of career options in health sciences and to provide them with an opportunity to observe the clinical aspects of health care in the teaching environment. Students are selected based on academics, faculty recommendation, and a personal statement. Participants are required to arrange and complete a six-hour shadowing experience with a female health care professional and research a topic related to their shadowing experience to be presented before a panel of professionals.

Women in Business

The Women in Business program is designed to expose students to many aspects of business, including, but not limited to, finance, management, human resources, operations and organizational leadership, management information systems, entrepreneurship, international business and an emphasis on marketing. The flexibility of each program allows each student to pursue areas of special interest.

Women in Leadership

The primary objective of this course is to begin to uncover and understand the unique challenges, constraints, and opportunities that face women today as they ascend to leadership positions in organizations. The issues have to do with the dynamics of power, authority and influence, being different, managing multiple roles, and social expectations as they pertain to women. Topics are explored by drawing on the experiences of women leaders from a variety of sectors and by bringing in important concepts and research insights from psychology, sociology and business.

Career Exploration Experience (C.E.E.)

Prior to senior year, all St. Ursula Academy students participate in our Career Exploration Experience. This program provides an opportunity for students to complete a comprehensive career experience, which is designed to assist the student in selecting and developing college and career options.  This opportunity provides each student with a better understanding of her values, interests, personality and skills. Such knowledge empowers the student with valuable insight when considering college choice, majors and careers. Upon completion, students submit a summary profile highlighting their experience. A culminating interview provides experience with other necessary skills needed to ensure our students future success in college and in today’s fast-paced workplace.
