St. Ursula Academy Senior Named National Merit Scholar Semifinalist
St. Ursula Academy is pleased to announce Lauryn Haas '16 as a 2015 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. According to the National Merit® Scholarship Program, over 1.5 million students in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). The 16,000 Semifinalists included in this list are the highest-scoring entrants in each state and represent less than 1 percent of each state's high school seniors. They are the only participants who qualify to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships to be awarded in the spring of 2016.
Not only does Lauryn excel in academics, but she is also a leader outside the classroom. Lauryn serves as president of National Honor Society, captain of the SUA tennis team, and ambassador of SUA. In addition to those leadership roles, hours of volunteer work have been given to the Ursuline Center, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and YES Project. Throughout her high school journey Lauryn has embraced the Ursuline Core Values, and has taken advantage of the opportunities at SUA.
St. Ursula Academy is proud of Lauryn and wish her much success as she continues the next steps in this competition.
