We know that a St. Ursula Academy education can represent a significant financial investment for a family. But small classes, excellent facilities and outstanding teachers are not inexpensive. Families who understand that education is the best gift they can give their child are willing to seek creative ways to afford an SUA education.
Academic Merit Awards
Students who score in the 98th to 99th percentile on the High School Placement Test receive a $3,000 scholarship. In addition, students who score in the 97th to 80th percentile on the High School Placement Test earn scholarship monies ranging from $2,500 to $500. These scholarships are renewable each year contingent upon the student retaining a 3.75 cumulative GPA (Grade Point Average).
Scholarships
Every high school student is eligible to apply for other scholarships based on service, leadership, involvement in fine arts, drama, music or dance. Each scholarship has specific criteria that a student must meet in order to be considered, such as grade point average, financial need, or involvement in specified activities. (See the scholarship application form for each scholarship's specific criteria.)
One Faith Many Blessings is a $350 need based scholarship which will be awarded to a few SUA families. Funding for this scholarship will be provided by the Diocese of Toledo.
In the past, the Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese handled the administration of this award. Beginning with the 2013 – 2014 school year, the Diocese has passed all administrative duties on to the individual schools. Therefore, all applications should be returned to the Attention of Jeanine Alexander at SUA.
The deadline for application is March 26, 2013. Click HERE to print an application.
Grants
Every family wishing to apply for financial aid must complete the SMART Tuition Aid Application. Once applications are reviewed by SMART, an internal committee at SUA determines the actual grant to be awarded for the school year. Final awards are based on family need.
To help St. Ursula tuition fit into your family’s monthly budget, SUA participates in the SMART Tuition Management Program. This is an interest-free plan that allows for payment over 9-10 months. The payments are directly drafted from your bank account beginning in July or August. A one-time administrative fee of $150 is required along with your application. The deadline for registration for the SMART program is June 7, 2013.
If your daughter has a strong work ethic and is willing to help defray tuition costs by working at St. Ursula Academy, she can earn up to $1,250 per year and reduce her tuition expense accordingly. Work assignments include a variety of tasks during the summer; during the school year the assignments are generally light maintenance work in the classrooms. The student must sign a contract. Students may apply for no more than two term placements during the school year, and one summer placement. These placements are filled based on financial need and a first-come, first-served basis. Student work program contracts are available online and will be due on March 18, 2013.
