The St. Ursula Golf Team is by far the most competitive team in Northwest Ohio. The program at SUA is a serious golf improvement program and virtually every girl who plays for four years graduates with the ability to play golf with great skill. Every senior who has wished to play in college has received some form of scholarship over the last 8 years. Every year our top two or three golfers are recruited heavily by many major college programs.
The Arrows Varsity golf team plays a statewide schedule. In August, the Arrows travel the state playing as invitees at every major Invitational in Ohio. This August we will play The Lakota West Invite in Cincinnati, The Pickerington Invite in Columbus, The Midwest Classic in Canton, The Walsh Warrior Invite in Akron, The Ashland Invite, and The Lima CC Thunderbird Invite. In addition, we host The Arrow Invitational at Highland Meadows Golf Club which features the best teams in Ohio.
The Arrows JV team plays a full Varsity level schedule. As there are only a few JV teams in northwest Ohio, our JV team regularly competes against Varsity teams from other schools. In 2007, the Arrow JV team finished the season as the 7th best team in northwest Ohio.
The Arrows Varsity Golf team made it to the OHSAA State Tournament again for the 5th consecutive year. There are approximately 250 girls golf teams in Ohio each year and only 12 make it to the State Tournament. This is a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to the strength of the golf program at SUA.
AshleyGarrison, Nicole Momsen, Lisa Kitzler and Julia Hanson were named Academic All Ohio. This is an honor available only to seniors, which every senior on the SUA team received.
The Arrows won the 2007 City League Championship. No other team has ever won the City League in the three years it has been played. All five Arrow Golfers, Ashley Garrison, Nicole Momsen, Lisa Kitzler, Alex Fuller and Julia Hanson were honored with 1st team All City honors.
The Arrows also won the 2007 Northwest Ohio Girls Golf League Title. The NWOGGL is comprised of every girl’s golf team in Northwest Ohio. The Arrows Varsity team placed 1st, while the Arrows JV team placed 7th. Ashley Garrison and Nicole Momsen were to the NWOGGL 1st team. Alex Fuller, Lisa Kitzler, Julia Hanson and Megan McKernan were all named to the 3rd team.
The Arrows finished 2nd at Sectionals and 2nd at the District Tournament.
