| | A Message from the President It’s back to school time at St. Ursula Academy and Junior Academy. Our opening Pep Rally on Tuesday and Liturgy on Thursday reminded me again about the special, intangible gift that is the SUA experience. We are excited to welcome 123 new freshmen to the Class of 2017. And after just two years since inception, our Junior Academy welcomed 70 beaming 6th, 7th and 8th graders to our campus. Add to that our already strong classes of 2014, 2015 and 2016 and our student body is ready to rock! We are also excited to report that nearly 20% of our students are children or grandchildren of alumnae. This is a wonderful representation and evidence that the SUA experience will continue to be handed down through the generations. We are working hard to increase that percentage as well. We welcome relatives of our alumnae and are excited to share the SUA legacy. Our recruitment season is just beginning to heat up. We are pleased to welcome Amy Mergen as our new Director of Admissions. Amy is the former Dean of Enrollment at Lourdes University and has a wealth of skills and experience in admissions and recruitment. If you have family, friends, neighbors or work colleagues who are looking for a phenomenal all-girl, Catholic School grades 6-12 experience for their daughters, please send them our way. SUA Varsity Soccer Team Defeats Alumnae  August 3rd was an exciting day on the SUA soccer field. Our Annual Alumnae Soccer Game ended up going into overtime and then a penalty kick shoot out, with the alumnae falling short in the pk's against our current soccer team. It was a fun and exciting game! Thank you to the alumnae players who came back to challenge our current team: Kelly Farell '12, Becca Joseph '13, Rachel Wainz '13, Marissa Fernandez '13, Kiley Armstrong '12, Alana Sullivan '13, Nicole Vahalik '12, Megan Rafac '13, Nicole Fernandez '11, Laura Asbury '12,Claire Ballay '10 and Aubrey Pizza '10. You are always welcome back at SUA!
Alumnae Volunteers Needed for Visitation and Open House Each year, all Catholic high schools are involved in visitation days, where all 8th grade boys and girls from Catholic elementary schools, along with some private and public schools, visit and tour the Catholic high schools. This year, the visitation days are October 2nd & 3rd, with a morning and afternoon session on each day. In addition, we will host public school students on a third day, November 5th. We need volunteers for all three days so if one or more of those days fit into your schedule, we would love your help! If you are interested, please contact Amy Mergen, Director of Admissions, at 419.329.2209 or amergen@toledosua.org. WE also have another volunteer opportunity. Our Open House on Sunday, November 17 from noon to 3:00 p.m. What better way to market our school than to have our alumnae here with us! Mrs. Mergen can also give you more information and sign you up!
3rd Annual Serata di Gala - Roman Holiday  Make plans now to attend our Dinner Auction Fundraiser on November 2, 2013. Last year over $65,000 was raised to support our Scholarship Fund. Did you know that over 70% of our students receive some form of financial assistance in order to attend St. Ursula Academy? With the ever demanding need, and our dedication to helping girls receive an outstanding Ursuline education, we need your support. Further details and registration information will be available in September.
